¡Qué frío hace!

Familia mía,

This week I found myself feeling like someone had pressed my "initiate panic mode" button. I do not like that button! Thankfully most of the time it is fairly easy to stay focused, but every once in a while the thoughts start to creep in or the dreams come and leave me feeling quite strange in the morning. Most of the time I refrain from freaking out. I still do not believe it all...

This week went remarkably well, in spite of the constant cold weather. I´m still waiting for it to heat up, but am not convinced that it is going to happen. At least it´s not nearly as bad as last year, and my awesome emergency blanket tent serves quite well. An ingenious idea if I do say so myself.  Yes it is "cold." It´s been rainy all week.

We managed to find a couple of very interested investigators this week. One is from Tampico, where he met the missionaries and his son was baptized. He and his wife were not because they were not married. She left him and kidnapped the kids and now he is here with his mom. He wants to be baptized and went to church yesterday. He already knows more than some recent converts, so if we can help him with the alcohol problem he should be baptized in these next two weeks. His mom is also very willing and quite without vices. We´ve taught them a couple of time and they live very close to the ever helpful Hermana G.

We have another investigator that is progressing. His name is E. He also came to church yesterday and assisted a class that we have every Tuesday in the church. He has accepted a baptismal date. It took a while to help him feel sure about it. But with a little reading and some questions we helped him resolve his doubts.

Besides them the other investigators are not doing so well... We´re working with them but we had to drop a few that we were teaching for more than a month.

We had "exchanges" this week. Only our district leader is in a trio, so he left his other two companions and came with us. That was a new experience. I have to say that I am a fan of the two by two arrangement. With three people contact in the streets feels more like attacking them... I think they probably feel that way as well. But it was just one day and now all is back to normal. Thankfully. It was a good experience and we mostly taught well even though we were not used to the situation.

They sent me my flight plans today and instructions for luggage. Still in denial. Thankfully my companion does not make fun of me too much. But the whole ward is constantly reminding me... I guess that´s just how it goes. I really want to make the best of these next two weeks. We had good results this last week and I want them to continue and even improve.

I will be heading to Monterrey two weeks from tomorrow. We´ll go to the temple that same day.

Lots of love,

Elder Greg Murphy
